Cassandra Powell is a playwright, actress, poet and producer. She has authored four plays including Indigo, Blood Water, Storyville Blues and the upcoming A Rose for Red Boy. Her theatre productions premiered at the Davenport Theatre, NY, 14th St. Playhouse, Atlanta, Ella Fitzgerald Theater, VA and in national and regional theatre festivals (National Black Theatre Festival, Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, Midtown International Theatre Festival). With a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Georgia State University, her other written works include published news articles and a book of collected poems and short stories, A Yellow Sonnet for Black Rebels. In 2013, she founded Yellow Dream Productions with a bold mission to create revolutionary theatre and continue the movement for radical change through the arts.
